Lent is a special time in the church calander. We’ve learned all about it in school coming up to Easter. We learned about the Trocaire box and Enestina who is 9 and lives with her family in central Malawi. She goes to the well every morning to draw water for her family and sometimes this can be dirty and make them sick. We did lots of lessons on water and the importance of it; the water cycle, pollution, storms and floods with climate change and also experiments in the science room testing the properties of water.
We have all agreed to give up something for lent and we put money for these things we normally buy in the Trocaire box. On our ‘Sacred Space’, each of decorated a Lenten cross and wrote what we will give up.
